Environmental Responsibility

The development strategy of the group has a direct bearing on the HSE management objectives. In the LLP West Gas Energy Strategy-2028, one of the main goals is to increase environmental responsibility. In terms of environmental preservation, the group’s top priorities are controlling greenhouse gas emissions and minimizing flaring, as well as managing water resources, producing waste, reclaiming land, and consuming less energy.

The objectives of the Strategy were followed in the approval of the “Environmental Policy.” The management of LLP West Gas Energy, its affiliates, and subsidiaries follows a zero tolerance policy for losses and damages resulting from environmental contamination. In 2021, the revised Environmental Policy was approved. In order to assure the collection, accumulation, storage, analysis, and transfer of environmental information, the LLP West Gas Energy Environmental Policy has been modified in accordance with the requirements of the new Environmental Code. Furthermore, stricter guidelines for the responsible use of natural resources and adherence to biodiversity conservation measures were issued to LLP West Gas Energy.

Energy use and saving

We have been putting a lot of effort into increasing the company’s energy efficiency and resource use. LLP West Gas Energy Corporate Center benchmarks its performance against historical data as well as the achievements of its industry rivals. It collects and evaluates information on energy efficiency metrics and consumption, tracks advancements, and identifies areas in need of improvement (IOGP). The basis for the Company’s efforts in the area of energy efficiency and conservation is the international standard ISO 50001 “Energy Management Systems,” which is the best generally recognized international practice in system management in this sector.

Energy consumption is lower than it was in 2019 because of decreased gas transit volumes and decreased hydrocarbon extraction as a result of the pandemic. In 2020, the LLP West Gas Energy of Companies produced 4,096 thousand Gcal of thermal energy and 406.0 million kW of electricity by itself. Using cutting-edge technologies and renewable energy sources is a new and exciting trend in the oil and gas industry. The following renewable energy technologies have been implemented in KTG, namely in the AGP and ICA subsidiaries: thermoelectric generators (closed cycle vapor turbogenerator), Waterkotte-type geothermal heat pumps, and monocrystalline solar panels (batteries). The renewable energy generated by LLP West Gas Energy is utilized.
